RVSM for Eurocontrol

Challenge

Required a cost-effective and accurate method of monitoring the world's busiest airspace. They also needed to monitor some of the most challenging conditions across the European Alps, where line of sight was impossible

Solution

Roke overcame the limitations of other synchronisation techniques by developing our patented common view GNSS synchronisation solution. Proven sub-nanosecond differential synchronisation performance provided the greatest coverage and accuracy of any other multilateration solution

Outcome

Deployed the system in Nattenheim and Geneva in 2000. Both systems comprise five receivers monitoring a region of 90x90nm with an accuracy of 25ft. These systems exceeded EUROCONTROL's requirements and still remain in operation
